I have been so excited to blog about this! My sister in law recently told me about eMeals when we were discussing meal prepping and grocery shopping. I’ve been trying really hard to get into a habit of meal planning on Friday and then meal prepping and cooking for the week on Sunday. It has been such a struggle! I don’t know what it is about preparing food for the week, but I loathe it. It takes so much time to try and decide what I want to eat for the entire week. What sounds good? I ask my husband what he wants and he says he doesn’t care and it honestly just feels more like a chore than something enjoyable that will make my week go by a million times better.
When my sister in law told me about this, as I was complaining about trying to force myself meal prep, my ears perked up. I was like “yes, tell me more, tell me everything!” and she did. Let me break it down for you and then I will tell you how it has changed my life in the best way. Also, I love that Dave Ramsey endorses this, because Drew and I challenge ourselves to stick to our budget.
What is eMeals?
eMeals is a meal planning app that helps you plan out your food. Whether you’re doing a regular grocery haul or planning for an event, eMeals makes it super easy.
How does it work?
First, you get to select your meal plan. eMeals has several options for you to choose from and decide which one is the best fit for you. Since it’s just my husband and myself and we like quick and easy meals, we selected the “30 Minute for 2” meal plan option. Each week eMeals will release meal recipes that you get to choose from. Once you have selected your meal recipes, you add them to your shopping list. After you’ve added them to your shopping list you can “shop now” and you link it to where you would like to purchase your groceries from.
Next, you grocery shop! eMeals currently works with Wal-Mart, Kroger, instacart, Shipt and amazonfresh based on their website, but I believe you can type in your zipcode and get other local stores in your area too. I’ve been shopping with Wal-Mart lately, so I have selected them as my grocer. When you “shop now” the eMeals app takes you to the Wal-Mart Grocery app and goes through your shopping list one item at a time. This allows you to select which item and brand you would like to purchase and you won’t forget anything! I feel like no matter how hard I try, I always forget something. Then you will check out as normal and voila! Shopping made easy.
Finally, you get to enjoy these easy and delicious meals! The first meal recipe we tried is the “Grilled Chicken and Pineapple Sandwiches” and oh em gee it was amazing! I couldn’t believe that I had cooked up something so good. It only took 30 minutes and it was delicious and that’s really all I want out of my meals. Another reason Drew and I were excited to try out eMeals was to try new and exciting recipes. We have some staples that we love, but I’m not one to branch out and try new recipes. It seems like such an effort to take a chance on a new recipe and if it doesn’t turn out to be what you expected it’s so frustrating – not to mention at that time I am hangry LOL.
How much does it cost?
Another reason I love eMeals is that it is affordable. The way that it is structured, to get your own groceries, it is only $4.99 per month for a 12-month subscription or $9.99 per month for a 3-month subscription.
Do they offer lunch and breakfast?
Yes! eMeals offers the option of adding on a lunch and/or breakfast option to your subscription for an added fee.
Do they have diet-friendly options?
Yes! eMeals offers a variety of meal plan options to choose from. As I mentioned above, we selected the “30 Minute for 2” option, but they have Keto, Slow Cooker, and Kid Friendly among many others!
