Oh my! All the feels this past weekend celebrating my best friend’s wedding.
I was overjoyed when they met and began dating, but even more so when they got engaged. My friend is so special to me – true friends are so hard to come by – and when I met her fiance (now wife) I felt like I gained another bestie.
When they told me it would be in Breckenridge, Colorado I was so excited! My family used to go skiing every Thanksgiving when I was younger until my freshman year at college. The last time we went to Breckenridge was probably middle school or early jr. high. Drew had never been so it was just so much fun to look forward to a weekend trip and celebrating our best friend’s love.
I arrived on a Thursday with the brides and the other maids in the wedding. We piled into a rental car and headed from Denver to Breckenridge. The drive is about two hours but it is mostly beautiful and stunning Colorado mountains. The trees, the rivers, the mountains it is all to die for and it makes the drive seem short.
We get checked in and go back to town for drinks and groceries for the weekend. We shopped at this City Market HERE, and there is a liquor store in the same shopping center and all around town for that matter. Colorado has a lot of breweries and beer – I recommend trying some local brew!
From there we came back to the townhouse and we tried out some of the new beverages and snacks (we were too tired to cook dinner from all the traveling) we bought at the store, and got in the hot tub. This AirBnB was amazing. It was three stories. The first had two bedrooms, one had bunk beds, and two full bathrooms. The second floor had a dining area, a kitchen, a living room and a patio equipped with a hot tub and a grill. The third had a large master bedroom and bathroom. Plenty of room for all of us to spread out. I stayed with the girls the first night, and Drew flew in Friday and we reserved this AirBnB HERE.

Our AirBnB was perfect. It was just around the corner from where the brides were staying so we could walk. Our condo had a queen bed, a queen sofa bed, and a twin bed. It had a studio feel to it and it had a good sized kitchen and living area, and a large bathroom – perfect for just the two of us for the weekend. The condo location was incredible, it was clean and had everything we needed and expected. I would recommend it and stay here again.
>>> I would like to note one frustration with our AirBnB. The host gave us the wrong code for the door. I called him twice as well as texted him. The host finally replied an hour later asking me to message him through the app. I was able to figure out the code on my own, but it would have been a big problem had I not had my friends’ condo to go to, and I actually had to wait on him to respond with the right entry code. <<<
Both condos were close enough to walk to downtown Breckenridge as well which was nice because parking downtown is tricky.
Friday arrived quickly! We went to the Lodge at Breckenridge where the girls were getting married at on Saturday for rehearsal.

From there we went for lunch at the Canteen and Tap House and Tavern downtown. It has a great patio and the food is amazing. We tried the honey hot wings, the mac and cheese with brisket, the tortilla soup and the pulled pork BBQ sandwich – they were all phenomenal!

After lunch, we came back to the condo and took a little break. We met up with some more friends arriving for the wedding and we walked downtown. We checked out a lot of the local souvenir shops. There are so many – it’s hard to choose from! We also made a special stop at the Crepes A La Cart. They have the most amazing crepes, both savory and sweet and a delicious assortment of drinks. I highly recommend the hot chocolate with whipped cream, caramel drizzle and chocolate chips.

After walking around downtown, we headed back to the condo to hangout and take it easy before the big day. Drew arrived around 10pm. We were both exhausted and went back to our condo for some sleep.
Saturday, Wedding Day! I woke up early and got my makeup done. The girls picked me up and we got to the venue around 8am for decorating and the brides’ hair and makeup. The hair and makeup girls were amazing! The brides looked absolutely beautiful.
At 11 o’clock it was time for the ceremony. The Lodge at Breckenridge has the most amazing views. It was such a beautiful backdrop to a gorgeous wedding.
I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Haley Allen, the photographer. She was so amazing! She was great at directing everyone and getting great shots and she was so sweet. Haley also put up with me and all of my micro-directing for the pictures haha. What can I say, Pinterest has made me a director of photography apparently!? Haha But seriously, if you are in the Denver area – book her. She is incredibly talented and she just has a good vibe. I feel like that is so important when shooting pictures. I cannot wait to see her pictures from the wedding, I know they will be stunning.
After the wedding, we all took a break for lunch. Drew and I decided to try out the Blue Stag Saloon as I had spotted it while perusing downtown the day before. It did not disappoint! Everything from the food and drinks to the music and the atmosphere was great. We ordered some buffalo wings, and the cowboy burger with fries. It was all delicious. Drew had a beer and I ordered my usual Moscow Mule. The Blue Stag made theirs with Tito’s so they are winners in my book #titosvodkagirl.

Saturday night we had a reception at the brides’ townhouse. They ordered pizzas from Fatty’s and omg the Canadian bacon is superb! The sausage was good too, it was a tad different than the sausage I’m used to, but it is good. We stayed up late and celebrated and had such a great evening.
Sunday morning came all too early! We packed up and headed back to Denver around 8am. Snow was expected in Denver and Breckenridge and we wanted to make sure we had plenty of time to get back to the airport. We arrived back around 11am and found a cozy booth at the Great Divide Brewhouse. I ordered the chicken sandwich and Drew had the turkey breast sandwich. They were so good! Drew had french fries, and I tried the side salad with ranch. It was amazing. That salad was good and big enough to be its own entree.
Thankfully we had a smooth and safe flight via Southwest Airlines back to Oklahoma City.
I hope this was helpful! If you are thinking about traveling to Breckenridge – I highly recommend it! Whether skiing or hiking there is enough to do here no matter when you’re traveling.
Also a HUGE congratulations to my best friend Kasey and her bride Brittany – I love you guys!
